Why do we collect data and how do we use it?

Friends of Crewkerne Station collect members’ and supporters’ contact information when they join, to exercise our legitimate interest in keeping you informed of our activities, and to invite you to renew your subscription should you wish to do so. If you have given an email address and your consent to continue receiving information from us in this way, we will always use this method in order to keep our costs down.

Any emails sent to members and supporters are always sent blind copied so that your email address is not visible to anyone else. If you change your email address, and still wish to be contacted by us, please let the Membership Secretary know on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it preferably via your new email address as we do sometimes have emails bounce back when we send a Newsletter or update.

If your email address at any time bounces back, and you have provided your postal address and/or telephone number, we will phone or write to you for the updated information, although you of course have the right not to give it.

If you prefer to be contacted by post, this is the method we will use, unless and until we are asked to stop.

At any time, you may request access to your personal data, rectify the data if it is inaccurate or incomplete, or require us to stop using and/or delete the data. This may be done by contacting the Membership Secretary, Chair or Secretary, whose details will appear on every communication, or via the “Contact Us” tab on our website.

How do we store the data?

The personal information given is held on a spreadsheet, by the Membership Secretary. This information will be shared with the Chair and Secretary of FOCS only where necessary, to allow them to contact you with information, newsletters etc. The document is password protected. All computers on which the data is shared have up to date virus protection and firewall protection.

Your data will never be sold or passed on to third parties. It will not be passed to any other Friend unless authorisation has been given by you and this will only be granted for a specified time and purpose.

If, at any time, you wish to change your preferences for how we contact you, please inform the Membership Secretary on the email address above, via the “Contact Us” tab on our website or the postal address given on all letters.
